In 2003, Mitch & Colleen Ravesloot started Hydro Exc. Inc.

 

Investing in a single Hydro excavation truck, and having the drive and determination, together Mitch and Colleen Ravesloot have made the company the successful company it is today. Core principles have always been teamwork, honesty, competitive pricing and positive attitudes. The Bible verse Matthew 6:33 has always been apart of the logo and the company's core principle from it's existence. While Mitch was working in the field, Colleen was taking on the role of working in the office, placing bids, reaching out to clients, etc. By persevering they grew a single hydro excavation unit into a fleet of 27 units servicing Indiana, Illinois, Wisconsin and Michigan. Together Mitch and Colleen realized the key to success was diversifying into other areas of the utility industry therefore expanding its services into the building of infrastructure. This is where Hydro-Exc., Inc. became HEI Utility Contractors. 

 

Bringing highly experienced team members on board to grow the HEI family the company quickly, safely and efficiently grew to servicing and building complete fiber networks, fiber splicing, directional drilling, sewer&water, natural gas, underground & aerial construction, small cell & substation construction and full service energy projects.  By seeking God first in all things and growing our team, a family was formed who worked diligently to grow the company over the past 18 years, into the full service utility construction company that is has become today.

 

Today HEI Utility Contractors has (7) core divisions:

Energy Division, Telecommunications Division, Hydro Excavation Division, Fiber Splicing Division, Small Cell, Cell Tower Divisions and Concrete Division.

 

In 2018, Mitch retired from HEI Utility Contractors and Colleen Ravesloot became 100% Owner and President of HEI Utility Contractors. In February of 2019 the company became a certified WBE Corporation receiving the WBENC

(Womans Business Enterprise National Council) certification.
